Complete pending water projects: Khader

Minister for Health and Family Welfare U T Khader convened a meeting of the elected representatives and officials to review water crisis in Mangalore constituency on Monday.

He directed the officials to complete the work that were pending following model code of conduct , to ensure the supply of water to the villagers. Expressing unhappiness over the functioning of Mescom, the Minister said that electricity connections should be provided for water projects to supply water in Harekala, Kinyakaje, Tilaknagar and Subhashnagar.
 
The Minister said that borewells can be drilled in case of emergency to supply water. The officials should visit those areas that have been facing acute shortage of water and prepare an action plan to provide permanent drinking water projects.
He also urged the officials to supply water to SC colonies through tankers till the region gets rain.

The minister said that the engineers and geologists should collect opinion from the local residents before sending any proposal to the government.

In a meeting related to health, the Minister called upon the health officials to furnish details on the government order that had prohibited them from upgrading PHCs.

The officials should be practical especially during the surveys. DHO Dr O Sriranga said that one PHC was allotted to the district at Palthadi near Puttur last year. The sanctioned post in the health department is 228. However, only 61 staff are functioning. To which, the Minister promised to fill the vacancies at the earliest.
