Last Updated 22 May 2013, 19:31 IST

Computer data entry operators of the Palike will return to work on Thursday following the release of Rs 2.09 crore to Keonics to pay their salary dues.

Around 800 to 850 data entry operators who have not been paid for the past six months were protesting since May 20.

“The bills from December 2012 to March 2013 were handed over to us by the Keonics on May 22 and the Commissioner cleared them all. The bills of April and May are yet to be received by the Palike and we will release funds, once the bills for the remaining period are provided,” Palike spokesperson S S Khandre told Deccan Herald.

According to the data entry operators, the Keonics has assured them of giving the salary cheques by Thursday, noon. “Keonics has promised to make the payment for remaining period in the next couple of days. If they fail to keep their words, we will intensify the protest and will boycott work,” said K N Umesh, president, BBMP Computer Operators’ Union.
