Harshith eclipses Suraj in title clash

Maitreyi grabs Sub-junior girls crown

Suraj, who had knocked out fourth-seeded Vedanth M Urs in the quarterfinal before outclassing top seed Shreyas K Telang in the semifinals, could not produce his best in the final, going down without a fight against a dominant Harshith at the Canara Union courts in Malleswaram.
Star Badminton Academy’s Harshith picked up the trophy with a 11-7, 11-1, 11-8 scoreline.

In the semifinals, Suraj recovered from the loss of the first game to send the top-seeded Shreyas packing 5-11, 11-4, 11-6, 11-8. Harshith overcame a battling Sunand Vasan 10-12, 11-8, 6-11, 11-9, 11-7.
Suraj’s giant-killing act had begun in the quarterfinals when he got the better of the fourth-seeded Vedanth 11-8, 11-8, 9-11, 13-11 in a tight contest that was in the balance till the very end.

Maitreyi Bailoor walked away with the Sub-junior girls’ title after outplaying Ridhi Rohit 11-6, 11-2, 13-11 in a one-sided final.

Maitreyi had been forced to work hard for her semifinal victory over Madhurya M 11-6, 11-8, 9-11, 11-5, but in the final, Ridhi had absolutely no answer to Maitreyi’s superiority and went down without a semblance of a fight.
