Kushal Singh appointed chairperson of NCPCR

Kushal Singh, former chief secretary of Rajasthan, will be the new chairperson of the country's child rights commission.

The decision to appoint Singh as the chairperson of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) was taken by a committee headed by women and child development minister Krishna Tirath.

Singh has held several high-level posts in the Rajasthan government. She was the chief secretary of Rajasthan.

She was also the chairperson board of revenue, Rajasthan Pollution Control Board, and the commissioner for disabled persons, Rajasthan government.

Singh was the secretary women and child development and social welfare, principal secretary for various ministries such as social welfare and tribal area development, environment and social security of Rajasthan.

The NCPCR's mandate is to ensure that all laws, policies, programmes, and administrative mechanisms are in consonance with the child rights perspective as enshrined in the Indian constitution.
