What British Indian rapper and hip-hop singer Taran Kaur Dhillon, popular by her stage name of Hard Kaur, does in all her performances is to whip up the crowd and get them to groove to every beat. That’s precisely what she did at one of her first performances, in the City, recently.

The event was a dance party and Hard Kaur did well to belt out some of her popular indi-pop pieces, such as Char Baj Gaye, Singh is Kinng, ‘Move Your Body’ and Ga Ga Ganpati Hard Kaur confesses that she loved the crowd in the City, “I loved the crowd. Everyone was singing along. They all were very sweet. I felt loved and blessed.”

The crowd comprised her fans, music lovers and random people who dropped by to witness her performance. They were in high spirits and literally at that, crowd sang along and danced to their hearts’ content.

It was as though the crowd knew every song that Hard Kaur sang. Rishab, a Punjabi and a member of the audience, follows Hard Kaur’s music. He says, “I am up-to-date with her latest work and I think that she has taken Indian music and beats to the international scene. This was the first time that I saw her perform live and I must say that she is really entertaining.”

Rahul, a music lover and a fan, found Hard Kaur a real crowd-puller.

“It takes a lot of talent and guts being a woman to pull off a great show and leave the crowd yearning for more. During her performance, she also got the crowd to dance with her. The most entertaining part were her antics on stage,” he says. Shanaya, another youngster was in awe of Hard Kaur, “It’s great to watch a woman perform live. The combination of Hard Kaur and her DJ truly made for a heady evening.”

Sunaina Lal, a student, says that she was first introduced to Hard Kaur’s music by her friends.

“Even before I knew it, I was addicted to her music. And watching her perform live was a dream come true,” she says.
