Services post huge victory

Services Sports Control Board (SSCB), Hockey Jharkhand and Hockey Odisha won their respective league round matches in contrasting styles on Wednesday at the 3rd Hockey India Senior Men’s National Championship. 

In a Group E match, SSCB notched up their third win in as many matches, outplaying Sports Authority of India (SAI) 6-1.

Hockey Jharkhand scored a resounding 12-2 win over Bengal Hockey Association with Diwakar Ram (6th, 14th, 37th) scoring a hat trick, while Hockey Odisha edged out Comptroller & Auditor General (CAG) 3-2 in a close encounter. 

Jharkhand and Odisha will lock horns on Thursday for a place in the last eight.

Pool E: Jharkhand: 12 (own goal 1st, Diwakar Ram 6th, 14th, 37th, Anil Xaxa 12th, 49th, Roshan Minz 20th, Shashi Topno 47th, Banmali Xess 53th, Welson Minz 58th, Amarjeet Ekka 62nd, Arvind Kujur 65th) bt Bengal: 2 (MD Riyazuddin 33rd, Varinder Singh Gill 34th); Odisha: 3 (Deepak Ekka 50th, 67th, own goal 51st) bt Comptroller & Auditor General: 2 (Triveni Prasad 44th, own goal 54th).
