A 15-year-old girl was gang raped by two youths after being kidnapped in east Delhi’s Pandav Nagar last week. Her mother approached police on Wednesday, but the accused are yet to be arrested.

The victim lives with her family in Pandav Nagar and is a class 9 student of a nearby government school.

Police said she initially hesitated informing her family as the accused recorded the crime on a mobile phone and threatened her with uploading the video on internet.

“The accused have been identified as they reside in the same locality and are known to the victim,” a police officer said.

In her complainant to police, the girl claimed that she was standing near her house on May 31 when one of the accused, identified as Fakira, asked her to accompany him for a joyride on his motorcycle.

He then took her to an unidentified area in Ghaziabad. “Fakira took her to a house where his friend Pradeep was already present,” the officer added.

The two accused then made her consume a drink laced with sedatives. When she felt dizzy, Fakira and Pradeep took turns to rape her, and filmed their activity on the mobile phone.

The girl further alleged that after she gained consciousness, the accused threatened her with dire consequences, saying they would upload the video on internet and spread it in the market if she reported the matter to anyone. Later, one of the accused drove her back and dropped her in Pandav Nagar.

Distressed over the threat, the victim initially decided not to reveal it to anyone, but when her mother enquired about her woes, she broke down and revealed her ordeal.

Mother approached cops

At this, her mother approached police and got a case of gang rape and kidnapping registered against the accused.

Based on the findings of the victim’s medical report and her statement, a case has been registered with Pandav Nagar police station, and a team has been formed to nab the absconding accused.

JNU student alleges rape bid

A JNU student has alleged that a 26-year-old man tried to rape her during a party in a hostel in the university campus at south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj, reports DHNS. The accused has been arrested, police said on Thursday.

The victim is a BA student and stays in Ganga hostel. In her statement to police, she alleged that Prabhat Ranjan, who hails from Bihar’s Nalanda district, tried to rape her in the wee hours of Tuesday.

“Prabhat is a former JNU student and stays in Narmada hostel,” a police officer said.
The girl claimed that the incident occurred when she and her friend Gaurav organised a party in room numbers 121 and 136 of Narmada hostel. Gaurav’s brother Mukesh, Ayush, Abhinay and Prabhat were invited.

The party began late on Monday and continued in the wee hours of Tuesday during which they consumed alcohol. “The girl claimed that she fell asleep after drinking alcohol,” the officer added.

When she woke up, she found that most of her friends had left and Prabhat was trying to rape her. She further claimed that she managed to escape after acting like she might throw up.

The girl then went to her hostel and narrated her plight to her friends who advised her to approach the hostel warden. “She complained to hostel warden Dr Srinivas who approached Vasant Kunj north police station on Wednesday,” the officer said.
Prabhat was arrested on the basis of a case filed over the girl’s statement.
