JOIN USExcitement, anticipation and thrill rent the air at the Donut Baker outlet in Indiranagar. The world’s No 1 Eater, Dale Boone was all set to challenge those who would eat more donuts than him.
The young and old thronged the venue, waiting patiently for the championship to kickstart where Dale Boone would be competing with Bangaloreans in a Donut Eating Championship. The audience were in for a pleasant surprise when they were told that there would be a wild card entry pushing up the number of participants from 10 to 11.
Shridutt won at the mini donut eating competition, beating the other four contenders. Each participant was given 12 minutes to eat as many donuts as they could and to walk away with the much coveted title "World's No1 Eater" and a cash prize of Rs 35,000.
The competition began with the participants grabbing two to three donuts at a time and forcing it into their mouth. It was quite an amazing spectacle. Soon, the hooting and cheering from the crowds grew louder. They went wild, cheering all the contestants and pumping up the energy level and Dale Boone, enthused by all the cheering, stuffed three to four donuts at a time gulping coke, in between, to keep himself from choking.
As the time passed, the participants began stuffing their mouths and the crowds kept the spirits soaring. As the judges began counting the number of donuts consumed by each contestant, the anticipation increased. Seven participants managed to eat more than 15 donuts of which two guys ate 24 donuts each. Dale Boone, yet again, won the championship with a phenomenal 44 donuts under his belt! Not only did he walk away with Rs 35,000 but he also added yet another record to the already existing 23 records making it to 24!
Speaking after his winning streak, he said: “I feel relieved that the competition is over and the best part is winning the first professional eating championship in India. Nothing gets better than this.” Praising his competitors, he says, “I am surprised that many managed to eat more than 15 donuts and I am even more surprised to learn that one of the female contenders beat three guys in the competition,” and adds, “I never get tired of eating donuts because it ensures a handsome cash prize."
