The 21st edition of the ‘Food and Hospitality World 2013’, held at Karnataka Trade Promotion  Organisation grounds in Whitefield, saw participants from across the world showcasing their products.

As many as 300 national and international exhibitors were present under one roof.

The exhibition was buzzing with people not only from the hospitality industry but also from other  fields.

Budi Santoso, the trade attache from the Embassy of The Republic of Indonesia, was present at the exhibition along with his team.

“India is a huge market for us. This is our first visit to Bangalore and we really like it. I feel that this City is the best place to promote our products as the percentage of middle-class population here is constantly on the rise,” he says.

Many chefs could also be seen showcasing the latest technology.

Chef Rahul Bajaj and his team is exhibiting a German technology, wherein food can be cooked in large quantities with thermal power.

“This self-cooking centre can replace the oven and 95 percent of the kitchen equipment. It saves a lot of energy,” he points out. The team rolled out a perfect Sunday breakfast for the crowd in no time.

German chef Jaachim Lehr, also a participant, was all praises for the City.

“Bangalore is a nice green city but the roads have to improve. I am here to promote German breads, sweets and savouries and cakes. We have got stuff like German rye bread, cheesecake with yoghurt, speciality breads as well as nice crisps. We hope that people take an interest in these,” he says.

Mehul Lanvers-Shah, one of the organisers of the fair, says that there has been a 20 per cent growth from last year and many new countries have participated this year.

“Countries such as Italy, Indonesia, Malaysia, Germany etc are there in the exhibition this year. Most of the European as well as Asian countries feel that India has a huge market when it comes to food and beverages. That is the prime reason why they are here,” he says.

“This year, we have got several domestic companies, which had concentrated on exports but are now looking to woo the domestic players. We have a multinational presence, which is great for the exhibition,” he explains. The exhibition will be on till
June 14.
