A youth who used to be the manager- cum-caretaker of a guesthouse here was today arrested for allegedly recording objectionable videos of guests at the establishment in the Jawahar Circle area, police said.
The accused, identified as the 23-year-old Dilip Kumar, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, was arrested and two micro-SD cards of 16GB memory each were seized from him, Malviya Nagar ACP Gagan Deep told PTI.
The accused used to fit a spy camera in the set-top box of TV sets in the guesthouse rooms and record videos of the guests when they were inside, the ACP added.
A case under section 384 (extortion) of IPC and section 66 of the IT Act were registered against the accused.
An FIR was lodged by the owner of Royal City Guesthouse against the accused who was fired from his job a few days back, the ACP said.
According to police, the new caretaker had unearthed his predecessor's alleged scheme and informed the guesthouse owner.
The guesthouse owner's role, if any, too is being probed, police added.
