Three motorcycle-borne youths must not have imagined in their wildest of dreams that a minor tiff with a bus driver would result in their brutal death.

The three youths, including a minor, were knocked down by a speeding bus near Sindhaura village in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district, about 250 kilometres from here, on Saturday evening. They died on the spot, according to police.

Reportedly, before the incident the youths had a heated exchange with the bus driver on the issue of overtaking. They alleged the driver did not deliberately give them way though there was plenty of space.

Then the bus passengers and the locals intervened and resolved the matter, following which the youths left. But it seems the driver had different plans.

According to passengers in the bus, the driver chased the three youths and knocked them down from behind. The motorcycle was entangled with the bus and their bodies were dragged to around 50 metres from the spot.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Kamran, Muntazeem and Dilshad Ahmed.
The driver fled with the bus after perpetrating the crime. The bus was later found near Bahedi in the district but he managed to escape, police said.

Enraged over incident, the people later blocked traffic on the road and indulged in heavy stone-pelting, damaging several vehicles.

The blockade was lifted after a local MLA and senior officials intervened in the matter and assured action against the culprit. A case has been registered against the errant driver and a hunt has been launched to nab him.
