In a bid to take revenge from his opponents, a man allegedly got his own brother killed and implicated them for the murder in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district, about 450 kilometers from here.

Though he managed to get his opponents arrested by the police, the conspiracy came to light a few days ago and the accused was now facing the heat.

According to reports, Kaleem and seven others have been in jail on charges of killing a girl, Mehvish at Khoja Nangla village in the district in 2011. The girl had become a victim of the rivalry between the two families.

Kaleem, since his arrest, nurtured a grudge against the girl’s family and had been looking for an opportunity to harass them.

Sources said that Kaleem hatched a conspiracy from within the jail with help of another undertrial prisoner.

As part of the conspiracy, Kaleep hired two supari (contract) killers for the
purpose of killing his own brother Nadeem. He planned to implicate the family members of Mehvish in Nadeem’s murder.

The police had recovered the body of Nadeem in May last year from a field in the district. Kaleem’s brother-in-law Shahnawaz later lodged a report with police accusing three members of Mehvish’s family of killing Nadeem.

They were arrested and sent to jail. The police had in May, filed a chargesheet in the court against them.

Senior police officials got wind of the conspiracy from the undertrial prisoner and ordered a fresh probe into Nadeem’s murder.

Investigations revealed that Nadeem had been killed by two contract killers Prabhat and Satish.

They had been paid Rs one lakh for the murder by Kaleem’s relatives. Prabhat had, after killing Nadeem, got his bail in another case cancelled and gone to jail.
Police now plan to take Prabhat on remand for questioning him further.

They have also moved the court for releasing the three members of Mehvish’s family who had been languishing in the jail for the past one year.
