BJP to form core team to assist Modi

Last Updated 02 July 2013, 21:42 IST

The BJP will hold a meeting on Thursday to form a team of central leaders that would assist Gujarat Chief Minister and party poll campaign head Narendra Modi in working out a strategy ahead of assembly polls in four states.

The party general secretaries, apart from other leaders, will attend the meeting to decide the course of action for the party to fight elections. It is learnt that some of the general secretaries will be tasked to carry out the electoral exercise. Rajiv Pratap Rudy might be assigned the task of carrying out poll campaign work in coordination with Modi, said party sourced. It is not certain if Modi will attend the meeting.

A senior BJP leader, however, said that the agenda of the meeting has not been finalised. He indicated that several issues will be taken up for the meeting. Modi has been touring several states, latest was Maharastra, to take a feed back from the state units to have their own strategy.

Previously, Modi had met general secretaries and others leaders in the capital on June 18 but that was a general gathering.  The states that are going to polls include Chattisgarh, Delhi, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
