Vedanth, Archana emerge champions

Vedanth M Urs of Vidya Ashram and Archana Kamath of MATTA clinched the Junior boys’ and girls’ titles in the 45th Canara Union State-ranking table tennis tournament at the Prakash courts on Saturday.

Vedanth defeated Rakshith RB of MATTA 11-7, 11-7, 11-8, 14-12 in the final to win the boys’ crown while Archana put it past JTTA’s Raksha R 11-6, 11-4, 13-11, 11-4 to bag the girls’ title.

BNM’s Shreyal K Telang registered a hard-fought 11-9, 13-11, 6-11, 11-4, 11-9 victory over Vedanth M Urs to pocket the youth boys’ title.  In the youth girls’ final, Archana Kamath beat Aishwarya R Bidri of BNM 11-9, 11-7, 11-7, 11-6 to add to her junior trophy. Chetan Gopinath of Horizon Club eased to a 11-8, 11-5, 11-5 win over Manjunath Rathod of GUL to win the Non-Medallist Singles title.
