Butterflies are such important creatures that many countries have immortalised them by issuing stamps in their honour.
At an exhibition organised by Mysore Philatelic Association and Numismatics Society, one philatelist was the centre of attraction. His collection include stamps issued exclusively in honour of butterflies. Hanumanth Nayak has stamps bearing butterflies, issued in countries like the United States of America, Brazil, England and Australia, in his possession.
Apart from a section dedicated to stamps bearing butterflies, there are stamps bearing pictures of various birds, animals, sports, arts and personalities.
“I do not organise exhibitions to win awards or for monetary benefits. I organise them in various schools and colleges so that students get awareness about Philately,” he said.
