<p>Delhi University is working to create an online museum, likely to be introduced with the start of the new session on July 23. <br /><br /></p>.<p>A senior officer said the e-museum will have information on country’s history, monuments and also on the historical monuments and places around DU.<br /><br />“Work has been started under the direct supervision of the vice chancellor. We are making audio visual material, related videos for the portal and hopefully will be able to finish it before the new session starts,” the officer said.<br /><br />The officer added that initially the link of the portal will be put up at the varsity’s <br />website.<br /><br />“It will also be beneficial for correspondence students who do not come to college often. We are also thinking of putting up screens in specific places on the campus on special occasions,” added the officer.<br /><br />According to the officer, the intention behind the portal is to make students realise the historical essence of the varsity. <br /><br />“Very few students know that the Vice Regal Lodge (VC's office) was the place where Bhagat Singh’s trial took place regarding the Delhi Bomb case from 1927 to 1931. And he was also brought here for a day from Lahore. The Gandhi-Irwin pact took place here. There is also a dungeon inside the lodge,” the officer said.<br /><br />The North Campus has several monuments of the colonial era. Work is also on to make brochures for the same, the officer added.<br /><br />The Ridge, another name for the remains of the ancient Aravalli Hills on the North Campus and the Flagstaff, (during siege of Delhi in 1857, the British who managed to escape from the rebels in the city, made their way towards the Ridge and took shelter at the Flagstaff), the Mutiny Memorial and the Ashoka Pillar, opposite to the Hindu Rao Hospital among others will be included in the portal.<br /><br /></p>
