Contractors beat drums to impel BBMP

The civil contractors, who have not been paid for the last 13 months by the BBMP, used the very method to raise their demand which the Palike adopted to recover tax dues from major defaulters — beating drums.

As their agitation entered the third day on Wednesday, the contractors not only staged a demonstration outside the BBMP head office on N R Road, but also used the same strategy pioneered by the Palike to recover tax dues about six months ago. Their protests, however, have not yielded any breakthrough so far.

The BBMP officials tried to calm down the protesters, requesting them to wait till BBMP Commissioner M Lakshminarayana returns from leave. But the contractors were in no mood to listen. They raised slogans and beat drums.
