All India Congress Committee Andhra Pradesh (AP) in-charge Digvijay Singh summed up the outcome of the core committee meeting on Telangana when he said the party working committee will take a decision.

With this, the people of coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema heaved a sigh of relief, while their counterparts in Telangana, who will have to wait further, are hoping for a positive outcome at the earliest.

Telangana Rashtra Samiti MLA T Harish Rao said: “Congress is back to its delaying tactics. The issue was raked up and the hype was created by the Congress. They have once again cheated the people of Telangana. Nobody knows when the Congress Working Committee (CWC) will meet. It only means that the party is still not decided on the issue.”

On the other hand, Congress leaders say that the CWC is only a formality.

K Dharma Sree, Congress leader from Visakhapatnam, supporting the party’s stand said that bifurcation of the state is a major issue and will take time to solve pertinent problems such as water sharing and union territory status to Hyderabad.

Rayalaseema protagonist Byreddy Rajasekhar, however, believes that a decision to club two districts from Rayalaseema to Telangana has already been taken and ratification by the CWC is only a formality.

“Handing over the decision to the CWC means that the Congress has already taken a decision,” Byreddy observed.
