Govt to legalise power supply to IP sets

Last Updated 16 July 2013, 20:35 IST

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that 1.40 lakh illegal irrigation pumpsets have been drawing power despite lakhs of such illegal sets being regularised.

He was replying in the Legislative Assembly to questions by the Opposition members who complained  about increasing number of transformer burst cases across the State. He said that he was well aware of the problem. Despite free power supply, illegal power is drawn for IP sets. This was increasing load on transformers, he said and added that the government would legalise illegal connections.

The chief minister also said that the government would set up 100 transformer banks so that the defunct transformers can be immediately replaced.
