N H Shivashankara Reddy of the Congress is all set to become the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly. Reddy, a four-term legislator represents the Gauribidanur constituency in Chikkaballapur district.
Reddy filed his nomination papers for the election to the post on Wednesday. The Opposition JD(S) and BJP which have 40 MLAs each in the 224-member House, chose not to field their nominee for the post. An announcement that Reddy has been elected unanimously for the post will be made by Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa on Thursday.
