A City student has bagged the all-India rank six in the chartered accountants’ (CA) final examination held in May this year. Nitin Kumar Nahar, 23, cleared the exam in his first attempt.

A BCom graduate from Bangalore University, he was working as an Article Assistant at a City-based firm for the last two years.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Nitin said he decided to pursue chartered accountancy in his first year degree after he discovered his passion for accountancy and taxation.

“I do not deserve the credit alone. My parents, my friend and the firm I used to work for supported me during my preparations,” he said. Incidentally, he also secured sixth rank in his BCom. His rank was the result of two years of consistent hard work, Nitin said.

During the last three months, he took leave from work and studied for almost 12 hours every day. Time management and planning well ahead were what saw him through the exam.

“I exactly knew what I would do with my time at least three months ahead. I planned my schedule that way. It was meticulous preparation.”

The hard work that seemed overwhelming in the beginning became comfortable soon. In the last three months before the exam, he was very comfortable with studying for long hours. “I love playing cricket and chess. I had stopped it for the past three months. Due to the vast syllabus, I had to put in that kind of effort,” said Nitin.

Apart from material given by coaching institutes, he relied on the study material of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, which proved very useful for him.
