<p>The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has expelled Vijay Bahadur Singh, MP, on Wednesday for giving a public statement defending Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for his “puppy” remark. Singh may join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).<br /><br /></p>.<p> The BSP on Wednesday issued a statement saying that Singh, MP from Hamirpur in Uttar Pradesh, has been expelled for comments that were against the “philosophy and principles” of the dalit party.<br /><br />The party also stated that Singh was warned earlier not to take a stand divergent from party thinking. The MP is believed to have articulated his views publicly knowing the consequences. Singh on Saturday had gone on air to take a position closer to the BJP by saying that Modi using an analogy — that even if a puppy comes under a car, it pains the passenger — to reply to a question on the 2002 Godhra riots showed that the chief minister was a “sensitive” person and that his comments were misinterpreted.</p>
