‘Vachana Band’

The Vachana Band will perform with Neecia Majolly at Alliance Francaise on July 20, 7 pm. On the list are vachanas by Basavanna, Allama Prabhu, and Akka Mahadevi. This experimental hour-long concert features Neecia, who will sing some of the vachanas in English, and her talented choir. The line-up includes Supriya Acharya (vocal), Ram (harmonium), Pramath Kiran (percussion), Dominic D Cruz (guitar) and Sudhakar J Doraiswamy (flute). Entry is free.

Vocal notes

A Carnatic classical vocal recital by Sukanya Prabhakar will be held on July 20, 6 pm at Keshava Samskruti Sabha, 556, Samskruti Bhavana, 11th Main, ISRO Layout. She will be accompanied by CN Chandrashekar on violin and Layakala Pratibhamani Anooru R Ananthakrishna Sharma on mridangam.

Nadasurabhi Cultural Association is organising a flute recital by Kalaimamani Sikkil Mala Chandrasekhar on July 21, 4.15 pm at The Indian Heritage Academy Hall, near Police Station, 6th Block, Koramangala. Nalina Mohan will be on violin, R Sankaranar­aya­n­an on mridangam and Sukanya Ramgopal on gha­tam.

Foreign voice

Colombian singer Viviana will be performing live at the Phoenix MarketCity on July 21, 6 pm. Entry is free.

‘Nartana...’

The International Arts and Cultural Foundation is presenting Nartana Avartana, a global Indian classical dance recital by Gayathri Sriram, director, Shruti Laya Dance School, Singapore and Soundarya Srivathsa, director, Nartana Keertana. This is being held in association with ICCR and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan on July 20, 6 pm at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.

Vamshi Academy of Music Trust is hosting Haridaasa Sourabha and Purandharadasa Aaradhana on July 21, from 10 am onwards at Vaamshika Sadhana.

Instrumental concert

Vidwan Sri KN Krishnamurthy Guruvandhana Samithi Trust is holding ‘Veena Vidhwan G N Subramanyam Memorial Music Concert’ on July 20, 6 pm at Sri Jai Maruthi Seva Samithi, Kamalanagar Main Road, Basaveshwaranagar. On the occasion, a classical instrumental music concert will be presented by D Balakrishna. He will play the veena. ASN Swamy will be on mridangam and Omkar G Rao will be on ghatam.
