College topper Sharath hates anything related to girls and the feeling is mutual. His collegemates shun him for his strange behaviour, which is totally fine by him — till he is woken up, literally, by medical student Swathi at a seminar.

Both Sharath and Swathi go through the motions of first love and are on the brink of declaring themselves when, boom, misunderstanding happens and the star-crossed individuals are torn apart.

After the surprise hit Govindaya Namaha, Pawan Wadeyar comes up with an out and out urban love story. Barring a few dialogues that teeter on the edge of vulgarity, Pawan comes up trumps for ensuring a mostly fluent flow of the plot.

His love story stands out mainly because outlandish dialogues are absent, though continuing to bash girls while singing paeans about the virtues of boys. Both leads are comfortable with each other and also look good together. Yash sharpens his rough edges a little more while Kriti’s sophisticated yet understated sensuousness is a perfect foil. The supporting cast of Anant Nag and Sudha Belawadi has nothing much to do and the latter delivers a pleasant, no-frills performance. The actors who play Sharath and Swathi’s friends are also good.

Bringing small things to the table to add to the drama, Pawan succeeds in keeping the audience in their seats for the most part. The only flaw, if it could be called one, is when Pawan takes the usual route to prolong the story towards its logical conclusion.

However, the film’s music plays an important part in shoving the aberration aside. Both Anoop Seelin and Joshua Sridhar come up with scintillating scores. That the tunes are catchy and are a rage is not surprising at all. Seelin’s background score is refreshing and complements Joshua’s work nicely. Vaidhi’s camera loses focus in a couple of frames but lovingly captures the locales in all their glory. Like our spinners, Pawan too spins a decent Googly.
