Three people, including a former Border Security Force constable and a private school teacher, were arrested for running a fake recruitment racket of Central Industrial Security Force.

They masqueraded as CISF officials to snare victims and dressed in uniform, moved in a white gypsy and carried wireless sets, police said.

The accused have been identified as Jaswant Singh, 42, who hails from Amritsar, Baljeet Singh, 59, who hails from Jammu and Parvinder Singh, 36 from Rajasthan, said Sandeep Goel, joint commissioner of police (EOW).

“They had also created a fake CISF website on which false enrolment results were uploaded to hoodwink potential job aspirants. The gang collected upto Rs 2 lakh from each victim,” said Goel.

They have duped a national level boxer from Chandigarh and around 50 people to the tune of around Rs 1 crore by promising them of employment in CISF.

The arrests came following an investigation into a complaint filed by Shiv Kumari, national
level boxer.

She alleged in her complaint that she was induced to pay Rs 1 lakh in Delhi on the false promise of a direct recruitment in CISF through sports quota.

“She was also shown the results on a fake website www.cisfrecruitment.in. Kumari was also given a fake appointment letter and told to join the CISF national training center in Hyderabad,” said Goel.

“When she reached Hyderabad she was told that her appointment letter was fake. She then approached the CISF headquarters in Delhi which referred her to the EOW unit of the Delhi Police,” added Goel.

He also said that a case was registered and a team was tasked to unearth the racket.
During investigation, police found that Kumari had paid the money to the accused in the New Delhi Railway station waiting room. On obtaining and analysing the CCTV footage, the accused were seen with wireless sets in their hands and a person walking with the help of a stick.

Police found the whereabouts of the accused and tracked them down to Rohini. “A trap was laid and Jaswant Singh and Baljeet Singh were arrested from Rohini on Thursday. Their interrogation further led to arrest of Parvinder Singh from outside New Delhi Railway Station Metro on Saturday,” said Goel.

During interrogation, they told police that they usually approached and trapped victims while traveling on trains. They used to carry walky-talkies, fake ID cards and also wore CISF uniforms while travelling in the trains, so as to convince their victims that they actually worked in CISF.

“They targeted unemployed youths from rural areas. They also had a white Gypsy with a beacon, which they later disposed,” said the joint commissioner of police (EOW).
