'Cong to form committees at booth-level'

Party will be fortified at grass root levels through booth-level committees

Addressing the reporters on Friday, after inaugurating the membership campaign of the party, he said that meets will convened at the block level to start the membership drive for 3 years.

Former ministers, elected representatives and party office-bearers will take part in the block level meetings. November 19 is the last date for enrollment.
“We have set a target of 25,000 members for the first phase. After the registration, internal elections of the party will be held during mid December,” he said.

Membership drive
He clarified that no matter how influential the person is, he has to work for registration of more and more members for the    party.
Failing this, he will not be given any position in the party. He informed that after reorganisation of constituency, party too reduced 6 blocks to 4 blocks as 3 constituencies in Kodagu were reduced to two and only Madikeri, Somwarpete, Virajpet and Ponnampete blocks will continue to function.

“Congress party is strong in Kodagu district. This district is like the back bone of the party and it must be strengthened further,” he said.
