Last Updated 23 July 2013, 20:35 IST

With the south-west monsoon being normal and the state receiving moderate to heavy rain and thundershowers in some places, majority of the rivers are now flowing close to the danger mark.

Sources within the Central Water Commission (CWC) office said the Ganga continued to flow close to the danger mark at Fatehgarh, Kannauj, Ankinghat and Kanpur, and was rising all through its course from Ankin Ghat to Ballia.

The Yamuna was also in spate flowing close to the danger mark at Prayag Ghat (Mathura), while the Sharda was flowing above the danger mark at Palia Kalan, they said.
The Ghaghra continued to flow above the danger mark at the Elgin Bridge in Barabanki, Ayodhya and Turtipar in Ballia, CWC sources said.
