Mayor to present budget today

With the Election Commission of India clearing hurdles for presenting the BBMP budget, Mayor D Venkatesh Murthy will table the budget for the second consecutive time on Friday. The budget will be presented at 10 am at the BBMP Council building.

The Mayor’s wish to present the budget on July 20 was opposed by his fellow BJP corporators. Later, he deferred the presentation of the budget to July 26 hoping that the legal hurdle over the appointment of new mayor would be cleared.

Instead of Taxation and Finance Standing Committee Chairperson, Murthy would be reading the budget, a break from the tradition.
