In a jam-packed court room at Saket when the Additional Sessions Judge Rajender Kumar Shastri pronounced Shahzad Ahmad guilty of killing Inspector M C Sharma, a relative of the slain officer broke down, while Ahmad was visibly indifferent, reports DHNS from New Delhi.
Police officers from the special cell, Ahmad, his defence lawyers, as well as the members of Jamia Teachers Solidarity Association (JTSA) were visibly anxious and couldn’t wait to hear the judgement.
As soon as the verdict was delivered, late M C Sharma’s relatives heaved a sigh of relief and one of them was in tears.
The special cell officials sat quietly with content faces which exuded a clear sense of vindication. However, the JTSA members who have been fighting for Ahmad, seemed perplexed and were speechless.
The verdict didn’t go down well and they were heard discussing the veracity of grounds on the basis of which the accused was pronounced guilty.
