Krishnappa alias ‘Bar’ Krishnappa, 59, who has been arrested in connection with a recent road accident that claimed the lives of four people and injured six at Parappana Agrahara, allegedly assaulted four policemen on Friday afternoon.

Police said Krishnappa, a diabetic, had complained of chest pain. The jailor authorities sent him to Jayadeva Hospital and Victoria Hospital with three wardens escorting him on Friday afternoon. After a medical examination at Jayadeva Hospital, Krishnappa was being taken to Victoria Hospital when a senior officer from the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison called up one of the wardens, asking them to return to the jail immediately for an identification parade.

However, Krishnappa sought to know why he was being taken back to jail and not to Victoria Hospital. When the wardens refused to give him the reason, Krishnappa assaulted the three wardens and the driver of the vehicle. Krishnappa was soon overpowered by the men. They drove the vehicle directly to Parappana Agrahara police station where they lodged a complaint against him for assaulting them. The four men who were assaulted by Krishanppa are Ashok Bagali, Chetan Talawar and Chikkanna – three wardens of the prison – and the driver of the vehicle Suresh. Parappana Agrahara police have registered a case against Krishnappa.
