The members of Electricity Consumers Forum withdrew the indefinite dharna following the assurance on Saturday.

The protesters initially demanded supply of three phase power for eight days. The MD however, said that in view of the problem prevailing in the State, it would be impossible to meet the demand. He assured that power will be supplied in accordance with the timetable drawn up and there will be no deviation from the schedule. Girinath said that the timetable will be displayed at Bescom offices in taluk centres. “Power will not be supplied for  six hours at a stretch. The supply will be cut within the said period,” he revealed.

Referring to the allegations levelled against Superintending Engineer Krishnappa, the MD said that a showcause notice will be issued to the employee. “There are no corruption charges against him. He has only spoken rashly with the consumers,” Girinath clarified.

Girinath said that either he or director of the Technical Department will come to Kolar every Wednesday to monitor the situation. In addition, grievances redressal meeting of the consumers will be held every Friday.

Replying to a question on allegations of contractors stealing electrical equipment, Girinath said that action will be initiated against the guilty if specific information is provided. Former legislator K Srinivasa Gowda, Holali Prakash and others took part in the dharna.
