Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP Campaign Committee chairperson Narendra Modi will visit Bangalore in September and hold consultations with Karnataka leaders on preparations for Lok Sabha polls, BJP National General Secretary Ananth Kumar has said.

Speaking at a meeting of newly elected party district and taluk presidents here on Tuesday, Ananth Kumar said Modi will also hold a meeting with party workers outside Bangalore. He claimed that there was an anti-Congress wave across the country and the State unit of the BJP will soon work out a strategy to face the Lok Sabha polls.

Alliance for bypolls

Speaking to reporters, BJP State president Pralhad Joshi said the party will consider entering into pre-poll alliance with JD(S) for Bangalore (Rural) and Mandya Lok Sabha bypolls, if the latter comes with a formal request.

Joshi said he had no information about reports that former chief minister Jagadish Shettar and former deputy chief minister R Ashoka had held discussions with JD(S) State President H D Kumaraswamy about forging an alliance to take on the Congress in the bypolls.
