An evening of high energy

EDM enthusiasts in the City recently gathered at Pebble for ‘Bacardi Weekender’, one in a series of events that are being held as a run-up to the upcoming ‘Bacardi NH7 Weekender’. These gigs, held in attempt to build energy for the upcoming music festival, are being organised in 21 cities across the country and feature an exhilarating mix of multi-genre artistes.

The line-up for the event included Delhi-based ‘Midival Punditz’, ‘Nucleya’ and DJ Dev. Bangalore-based DJ Dev was the first to step behind the console, setting the perfect tone for the rest of the evening. Specialising in dubstep and glitch-hop, his set was fresh and managed to get a huge crowd on the dance floor.

   “I played a very smooth liquid drum and bass set just to get the crowd on to the floor. It was a high-energy crowd. I started with an empty floor but by the time I was done, pretty much everyone was dancing,” he says.

This was followed by Delhi-based Nucleya, who took the energy levels of the evening higher with his spirited set. The crowd could be seen having a great time, sipping cocktails and shaking a leg. Vishal, who attended the event, says that it was the perfect way to spend a weekend. “The energy is great and I love the music. I’ve watched ‘Nucleya’ perform before and wanted to catch him again.”

Tapan Raj of ‘Midival Punditz’ took to the stage after this, by which point the venue was packed and spirits were at an all-time high.

   Radhika, a graphic designer from Delhi who was holidaying in Bangalore, adds that she made it a point to attend the event because she’d heard a lot about the gig culture in Bangalore.

   “I love ‘Nucleya’ and ‘Midival Punditz’ and since I’ve heard so much about Bangalore being a haven for music lovers, I simply had to come. I’ve had a great time — the energy here is fantastic,” she says.
