An incident of a 53-year-old man allegedly raping a seventh standard girl has come to light belatedly in Ghousianagar of the City. The girl has been diagnosed to be in the fourth month of pregnancy.
Udayagiri police said Mehboob Pasha who runs a grocery store in the neighbourhood, had taken the victim to his house and sexually exploited her, a few months ago. Pasha has been arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
The incident came to light on Thursday evening when the girl was taken to a gynaecologist after she complained of missing her menstrual cycles and acute stomach pain. The gynaecologist confirmed that the girl was pregnant.
Strangely, another gynaecologist, who treated the girl for the same complaints, had attributed her condition to nutritional problems. Pasha was picked from his house and arrested on Friday. The girl was subjected to medical examination at a hospital and sent to home with her parents.
