Talents Day

Hard work bears fruit

The students of Seshadripuram Independent PU College put up a great show at the ‘Talents Day’ event held at the college recently. Full of colours and energy, the high-spirited show saw students presenting different dance forms, songs as well as a host of other programmes.

There were more than 20 groups performing over 15 items. The highlight of the show was the dance programme which had Bollywood fusion, contemporary and classical dances.

It was apparent that the students enjoyed the show and their loud cheers only added to the energy. Many also participated in the group as well as solo singing competitions. Rohini, a student of the college, says that she worked very hard for her show and also bagged a prize.

“I presented a Bollywood fusion dance and won a prize for it. It was a great pedestal for me as many of my friends as well as teachers were present and they got an opportunity to see my talent. Dancing has always been my forte and this was the best opportunity to show people how passionate I am about it,” she says.

Students say that they had worked tirelessly for weeks together to make this programme a success and got a great response from the crowd. Lauded by their teachers and college authorities, they also said that they want to improve and put up a better show next year. Shalini, a second PU student of the college, says that the programme gave equal opportunities to all and she was quite happy that the audience appreciated their efforts.

“It was probably one of the biggest programmes that we organised. Our teachers supported us to a great extent, but the planning and the execution of the entire show was done by the students. We were not only performing on the stage but also coordinating a lot of things backstage. It was a test of our teamwork and team spirit,” says Shalini.

Pavithra, a student of the college, says that she sang an old Kannada song and like many others, also chose to perform classical numbers. “We never knew that our college had so much talent. Thanks to the programme, we got a chance to see some very talented artistes amongst us. I am looking forward to performing next year as well,” she says.
