Vibrant hues and unusual designs dominated the recently held fashion week ‘India Runway Week’ by Indian Federation for Fashion Development (IFFD). The two-day-long event held in Chattarpur opened with shows by Rajdeep Ranawat, Akanksha and Dhruv Arora and Swati Mehrotra.

Akanksha and Dhruv Arora, who were the debutants presented the show on the theme ‘Mutation’. The range showcased a gradual shift from traditional to contemporary as they introduced an exclusive pant saree concept. “The drape is stitched over the pants so it is stylish and the fall is natural,” explained Akanksha while talking to Metrolife.   The designer duo also presented a lehenga with a motive of Lord Krishna.

Kiran Kheva, director Indian Federation for Fashion Development (IFFD) in a chat with Metrolife said, “Almost 30,000 fashion designing students graduate annually. The IFFD’s motive is to give these talented students a platform to showcase their creativity. It will definitely make our fashion shows different from others because there will be something new each time,” while admitting that it will be a long process.

The second-day of the fashion extravaganza started with designer Mini Shangle who presented a classy collection in tones of gold, red and black. The collection was versatile and focused on sensuality and elegance.

Interestingly, all the attires had Telugu script either on the collar or on sleeves. “My inspiration was Bollywood star Rekha who is part Telugu. Gold was chosen for its opulence,” says Mini. Punjabi actress Himanshi Khurana of the film Sadda Haqq was the showstopper and looked vivacious in a golden-red gown.

Designer Shivani Singh’s came up with a unique collection of jeans. From embellishment on jeans to a mix of leather and denims, Shivani’s experimentation was simple yet different. The showstopper was actress Nauheed Cyrusi who sported
blue jeans embellished with artificial gems.

Meanwhile, Ricky Seth, the make-up artist and hairstylist showcased some wacky hair do for models on ramp. Also, for the very first time, sleepwear collection was showcased on such a platform by Megha Taluja of Gingerlily. The collection was chic and looked comfy. Indrani Dasgupta was the showstopper for the
collection.
