BHEL Bangalore wins Rs 96-cr contract for solar power plant

BHEL Bangalore has bagged a Rs 96-crore contract from NTPC Ltd, to set up a 15 MW solar power plant.

The contract involves designing, manufacturing, testing, installing and commissioning a 15 MW grid-interactive plant at Singrauli in Uttar Pradesh. BHEL will also operate and maintain the plant for the period of a year.

The solar power plant will be set up near NTPC’s 2,000 MW thermal power plant at Singrauli and will supply over 23 million units of solar power every year to the Uttar Pradesh State Grid.

BHEL’s Electronics Division will execute additional solar power plants of 10 MW each at Unchahar, Uttar Pradesh and Talcher, Orissa.

The other megawatt-size solar power plants already set up by BHEL have been functioning in Raichur and Shivanasamudram in Karnataka, Jodhpur in Rajasthan and Katol in Maharashtra — contributing to the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission.
