From her debut in 2007 with Om Shanti Om opposite Shah Rukh Khan to her latest release ‘Chennai Express,’ model-turned-actress Deepika Padukone has time and again proved her mettle. Deepika’s career graph boasts of her being the only actress to cross the Rs 500 crore mark in a single year.

Though ‘Chennai Express’ received mixed responses from critics, the movie was successful in collecting good revenue. According to sources from the industry, ‘Chennai Express’ has collected Rs 410 crore at the box office in India and abroad. It’s collection in India has crossed Rs 222 crore.

This year, the actress has had three big releases till now — ‘Race 2’, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and ‘Chennai Express.’ With the release of just three films, the actress is expected to aggregate a total of Rs 500 crore plus, becoming the first actress in a calendar year to reach that mark.

Also, from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s romantic-drama Ram Leela — which has been in news ever since the shooting started — she might clock Rs 550 or even Rs 600 crore. Making it a first, Deepika surpasses her competitors — Katrina Kaif, who is at a distant second with Rs 319.63 crore in 2012 ( Ek Tha Tiger and Jab Tak Hai Jaan) and Kareena Kapoor at third, whose movies collected Rs 263.15 crore in 2011 (‘Bodyguard’ and Ra.One).

The actress will be seen shaking a leg with South Indian superstar Rajnikanth in her next movie Kochadaiyaan - The Legend. The Tamil epic film is directed by Rajnikanth’s daughter Soundarya Rajnikanth Ashwin. The trailers of the movie have been launched.
