Shopping malls and supermarkets in the city will provide space for Dasara publicity. Nada Habba Dasara is scheduled to start on October 5 and end with jamboo savari, the last leg of navaratri on October 14.

KSRTC Divisional Controller (Urban) Ramesh, also the Deputy Special Officer of Dasara Tourism Sub-Committee told Deccan Herald on Tuesday that it has been decided to put up temporary information kiosks at five malls (including three supermarkets), besides 20 other select locations. Malls are included in the list of potential places for publicity, with a burgeoning number of shopaholics making routine visits to hi-tech plazas. The kiosks will function from October 5.

In the previous years, kiosks were put up at 15 places of tourist interests like Palace, K R Circle, Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens (Mysore Zoo) and Chamundi Hill, besides transit centres like KSRTC sub-urban bus stand, railway station among others.

Malls are located near race course circle on MG road and Jayalakshmipuram, supermarkets on JLB road, Krishnamurthypuram and also KSRTC sub-urban bus stand. Supermarkets have mushroomed all over the city.

The festival is a mass celebration with people irrespective of classes making time to be a part of the event. The sub-committee wants to attract visitors at the malls and hi-tech stores, especially the youth, towards Dasara that boasts of a melange of attractions,” Ramesh added.

Volunteers

Like the previous years, kiosks will be supervised by volunteers who will be having a list of programmes irrespective of venues. The kiosks that were introduced in the recent years have become hugely popular for the volunteers donning the role of tourist guides to the venues and tourist attractions.

Apart from the locals and domestic tourists, international tourists have been the most benefited from this very initiative, he added.
