A 60-year-old woman hanged herself from a tree inside a park in outer Delhi’s Rohini, police said. They suspect she was depressed over her prolonged illness but they are investigating the exact cause behind the extreme step.

Murti Devi was a resident of Rohini Sector 16 and was found hanging at a park near her house on Tuesday morning.

The security guard in the area saw a body hanging and made a call to police control room.
By the time police reached, people living in the neighbourhood area gathered over there, identified her and informed her family members.

“We reached the spot and found her hanging with a rope. She was dead by the time we brought down her. The body was thereafter sent for a post-mortem at Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital,” said a police officer.

After autopsy, the body was handed over to the family members for last rites during the evening.

Murti lived with her son and daughter-in-law. After questioning her family, police found that she was suffering from an illness and was depressed over this.

“We have not found any suicide note from the spot,” an officer said.

“Apart from illness, there might be some other reasons behind taking such a step. We are also questioning neighbour and other family members and relatives,” added the officer.
