'Library Week' begins on a low-key note

The ‘Library Week’ which is being being organised by the District Central Library, was inaugurated on Saturday in Kolar City, without much fanfare.

Vani Prahlad Rao inaugurated the event, in the presence of chief librarian P Vishwanath, staff of the District Central Library and a few readers, at the premises of the District Central Library.

When the Deccan Herald reporter visited the library on Saturday, there were no people other than the staff members. When the staff members were questioned that why was the event such a low key affair, without giving any publicity or information in this regards in the media, the staff members replied that they were instructed to organised it in a simple manner. Hence, there was not much publicity or fanfare, they added.

However, there was information in this regard on the notice board of the library, they added.

Book exhibition

As a part of the ‘Library Week’, a book exhibition has been organised in the library premises. Books on various sections are being displayed at the exhibition. The ‘Library Week’ is being held till November 20 and the exhibition will also be held till then, the staff members informed.

Apart from starting the ‘Library Week’ without any publicity, it can be recalled here that a children’s library was also inaugurated here a few months without any publicity.
