Youth dies alighting moving train

The City railway police gave the name of the deceased as Shanmugam (24), a carpenter and a resident of Kadirenahalli, Banashankari. Anita, his sister, is in the ICU with multiple head injuries at a private hospital. Shanmugam was a bachelor, while Anita is married with children.

The accident occurred on platform No  2 at the Kengeri railway station, around 7.20 am. The brother-sister duo tried to jump from the slow-moving Mangala Express train.

Shanmugam and Anita were returning home from Mandya after attending their elder sister’s birthday bash. Despite his sister’s advice against jumping off a moving train, Shanmugam alighted from the train and landed straight under the railway track and died on the spot. On seeing her brother caught between the tracks, Anita tried to help him and slipped to the other side. In the melee, she suffered multiple head injuries and was shifted to a nearby private hospital.

Student killed

A B.Com  first year student was killed in a road accident in Kamakshipalya traffic police limits on Monday morning. The deceased has been identified as Anil K M (22) of Hoysalanagar. He was studying at KLE’s Nijalingappa College, the police said.

The accident occurred when he was on the way to the college on his bike. On seeing a speeding private bus right behind him, Anil lost balance and his bike skidded. The bus driver tried to avoid hitting him, but Anil came under the rear wheel of the bus and was run over. His head was crushed.The driver jumped out and fled. The incident led to a traffic jam for half an hour.

Anil’s relative said his father is a head master, while his mother is an assistant teacher of high school in Mulbagal in Kolar district. The couple had two sons, including Anil.

Unfortunately, their first son was also killed in an accident in Mumbai four years ago.

Rowdy sheeter hacked

A rowdy-sheeter was hacked to death in front of a bar in Geleyara Balaga in Mahalaxmi Layout on Monday evening.

The police said a four to five member gang attacked Sandeep (29) when he was coming out of the KSR Bar and Restaurant. He collapsed on the middle of the road and bled to death. Sources said Sandeep returned from court and mid-way he got into an argument with his friends and this might have led to the crime.

In the past, Sandeep had been involved in assault, attempt-to-murder and other cases in Mahalaxmi Layout police station. Earlier, he, along with is friends had attacked one Paul Kumar.

Four arrested

K S Layout police arrested four persons for allegedly hatching a conspiracy to commit dacoity on Saturday. The accused have been identified as S Raja of Padmanabhanagar, S Raghavendra of JP Nagar, Stalin of Uttarahalli and G Vajresh Kumar of Yelachenahalli. They are associates of two rowdy-sheeters Raghu alias Tablet Raghu and Bellary Shiva.  The police, acting on a tip-off, rushed near Roti Daba on Kanakapura main road. The accused who were sitting in two cars tried to run away seeing the police. However, the police chased  and  near Kottanur Dinne, surrounded  and arrested them. However, Raghu and Shiva managed to escape.
