Asaram Bapu's son Narayan Sai, against whom a lookout notice had been issued by the Gujarat Police after he was accused of rape, has reportedly changed his look in a bid to evade the cops.

According to a disciple of Asaram Bapu, a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Agra town, Narayan Sai, who has been on the run since the registration of a case against him in Gujarat, has shaved his head, beard and moustache so that the police cannot recognise him.

The disciple, a trader, claimed that Narayan Sai had stayed at his home in Agra two days after the case had been registered against him. Ahmedabad police raided the disciple's house on Friday, but Narayan Sai was not found there.

“Narayan Sai had come to my house at around 11 in the night. I offered him a glass of milk. His vehicle had a registration number from Punjab. He also wanted a SIM card, but we politely declined,” said the disciple. “I could not have refused him entry..

After all, he is the 'guru putra' (son of the guru).”  The disciple said Narayan Sai left after staying there for a few hours, adding that he had no idea where he might have gone. Sources said Sai had come to Agra twice seeking refuge at the homes of his disciples in the town.

Cops arrested a “sevadar” (disciple) of Asaram Bapu from UP's Muzaffarnagar town on Sunday. Sources here said the sevadar had worked as a cook at Asaram Bapu's ashram in Ahmedabad for several years, and might know the whereabouts of Narayan Sai.

Two sisters, who lived in Surat, have filed rape complaints against Asaram Bapu and Narayan Sai at different police stations in Gujarat. They have alleged that they were raped by the duo during their stay in the self-styled spiritual guru's ashrams.

DCP probing rape case threatened

Surat Deputy Commissioner of Police Shobha Bhootda, who is part of the investigations into the rape allegations against Narayan Sai, son of self styled-godman Asaram Bapu, has received death threats, DHNS reports from Ahmedabad.

Surat police sources said Shobha, an IPS officer, received a call from an unknown person who threatened to eliminate her since she was instrumental in getting the rape victims lodge an FIR against Narayan Sai. Police are trying to trace the unidentified caller.
