HC orders notice to Jayalalitha

Hearing an appeal by the Special Public Prosecutor and Tamil Nadu Government, who had challenged the Special Court’s order declining consent to withdraw the London Hotel acquisition case against Jayalalitha and others, Justice Jawad Rahim has ordered emergent notice to Jayalalithaa and others.

The petitioners had challenged the order dated Sept 10, 2009, passed by 36th additional Judge Bangalore declining consent to withdraw London Hotel case against Jayalalitha. The petitioners had cited that all the witnesses being foreigners and are residing in different countries, it would be difficult to depose them before the Court.
