The rain gods may have played spoilsport but that didn’t stop the thousands of Electronic Dance Music (EDM) fans in the City who made their way to Ezone Club for the first edition of Sunburn Festival.

Though the event started later than expected and some of the DJs overshot their time slot, it was quite a memorable party for the attendees who were there to have a good time.

The Bangalore edition of Asia’s largest EDM festival had an impressive line-up spread across the two days, which included the likes of Dutch house DJ Fedde le Grand, German DJ Paul van Dyk, Dutch DJ duo ‘Showtek’, Belgian DJ duo Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, Norwegian trance producer Ørjan Nilsen and Indian artistes like ‘Lost Stories X Anish Sood’, Shaan, Kash Trivedi, ‘NDS and Blue’ and Sartek.

The energy levels rarely dropped as each of the artistes played their signature sets, featuring some original mixes and popular remixes.

Given the fact that the festival has been around for seven years in Goa, care was taken to leave Bangalore entranced too.

This was seen in the designing of the Space Jungle Stage, which was like a mini forest, while the After Burn stage had a sci-fi underground vibe. The visuals that were created for individual sets also added to the experience.

Music aside, the typical stalls were found near the stage selling festival merchandise, glow sticks, party hats, clothes, accessories, bags, caricatures and even tattoos.

The bars kept the spirits flowing, often with youngsters below the permissible age of drinking.

Again, underage drinking and children smoking were common sights due to lack of parental supervision.

It was ‘a party of a lifetime’, as Naina, an attendee, called it. She added, “It would have been perfect if it hadn’t rained but it was still awesome music! Seeing Paul
Van Dyk live was a dream come true. I still can’t believe that I saw him perform in Bangalore.”

Dhruv, another audience member, compared his experience in Sunburn Goa to this one. “While I missed the beach immensely, it was encouraging to see Bangalore take to EDM at this scale. For the price they paid, they got to see some of the best DJs in the world. It was an insane experience,” he said.
