The State legislature on Friday paid rich tributes to anti-apartheid revolutionary Nelson Mandela who passed away on Friday morning. The two Houses described him as one of the tallest leaders the world has seen.
The legislators said it was a coincidence that Mandela’s death has come on the ‘Parinirvana day’ of Dr B R Ambedkar. Both were leaders who had lent their voice to the voiceless people. Mandela was not just a person but a force. He had found solution to the discrimination against racism through peace. For the youth, he is an inspiring figure, they added.
The Legislative Assembly adjourned the House sine die after paying tributes. It did not transact any other scheduled business for the day. The Council conducted the proceedings till 2.15 pm and adjourned sine die.
