Unhappy with their relationship, a youth killed his sister’s boyfriend in Mangolpuri on Friday. The 20-year-old man was arrested two days later, police said on Monday.

The victim was identified as Gaurav, a resident of Mangolpuri.

Mangolpuri police station got a call around 6.30 pm that a boy had been stabbed in block C, said Sanjay Kumar, Additional Commissioner of Police (Outer).

“A police team rushed to the spot and found victim Gaurav’s cousin Satish who said Gaurav was in an affair with a girl in his neighbourhood. But her brother Pawan was unhappy with the relationship,” added Kumar.

“Pawan had warned Gaurav to stay away from his sister and due to this, their relation was strained,” Kumar also said.

On Friday, Pawan saw his sister coming out of Gaurav’s house. “Seeing this, he got furious and took out a knife and stabbed Gaurav in his chest and abdomen,” the officer said.

The victim was rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital where he was declared dead.
A case was filed under 302 (murder) of Indian Penal Code with Mangolpuri police station.

Police said an information was received that accused Pawan would be coming to Bapu Park near Mangolpuri block D.

“Acting on the tip-off, a police team laid a trap and the accused was caught around 8 pm on Sunday,” said a police officer. The weapon of offence has been recovered.

During interrogation, the accused confessed to have killed Gaurav as he was not happy with his sister’s affair with Gaurav, the officer said.
