Hundreds of participants exhibited their talents in various cultural events as part of the programme. Students participated in Bharatnatyam, group dance, light music, rangoli, painting, essay writing and other competitions.
Speaking after inagurating the Kalamela, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Mirza Akbarulla said that the Kalamela provides proper platform for the budding talents to show their expertise. Students should showcase their talents by inculcating competitive spirit, he added.
Akbarulla felicitated teachers who rendered meritorious service in education sector on the occasion. Fathima High School headmaster Marcel Lobo, Mookambika High School Headmaster S S Gopal, art teacher U R Nagesh and Premkumar were honoured.
Kalamela Organisation President N K Mohankumar, retired headmaster M H Nazeer Ahmed, SSA assistant project officer S P Shivakumar, columnist Bharadwaj Kanive and Moovathoklu Malnad DEd College principal Kumar were present.
