BCom student killed in road accident

 A student was killed after a speeding car rammed his two-wheeler on 8th Main Road in Malleswaram, on Friday. Kaushik (20), a first-year BCom student at M S Ramaiah College, was riding a bike when the accident occurred.

He fell off the bike and suffered severe head injuries.

Though rushed to a nearby hospital, he was declared brought dead. The car driver fled the spot abandoning his vehicle. Malleswaram police have registered a case.

Chain-snatchers arrested

The City police have arrested five men for chain-snatchings and recovered gold chains worth Rs 9.12 lakh.

The arrested are: Vishwa, 20, Nagesh, 21, Sandeep, 22, Manjunath, 27 and Venkatesh, 22. The police also recovered four motorcycles worth Rs 1.5 lakh from them.

It is said that they used to target lonely women who were travelling back home in the evening.
