Sushil and Falguni Jhaveri held a showing of his Fall-Winter collection at Fuel and over wine and nibbles invited Bangalore’s fashionistas to have a closer look. And in spite of a wet rainy evening, the crowd came in to browse through the racks of finely cut garments in rich fabrics and elaborate embellishments.

Known for his attention to detail, Phadnis is one of the most popular bridal wear designers in the country. Vivid and flamboyant best describes his Fall Winter collection of tunics, dresses, lehengas, sarees and kurtas. “I love the way he has made white transform itself from cool and classic to trendy and bling with the clever use of borders and embroidery,” said one avid fashion follower.The models wore a few of the designs showing them off to the select audience in an informal manner so that one could see how they actually looked when worn.

Ladies browsed through the racks of beautifully worked garments picking out individual pieces that caught the eye. There was a clever mixing and matching of colours and textures with the whole ensemble finally coming to life through the judicious use of embroidery and detailed craftsmanship.

Panels of velvets were matched with brocades while colours in bold shades of emerald green, richly red rusts and yellow ochre worked together in sync. “What strikes one most about his collection is the boldness of his combinations. Who would think of teaming up orange with blue and using bands of gold embroidery so effectively,” said Laila Baker pondering the merits of a flowing jacket like creation in rich brocade, perfect to dress up a simple bustier and trouser with. All in all, the collection was a creative display of luxury styles and contemporary cuts that had created magic on the ramps of Delhi recently.
